Governors State University hosted the third Peace With A Purpose Forum last August, with the PWAP Founder and Chairman, Village President Vernard Alsberry, Jr., serving as the facilitator of the forum. Attendees enthusiastically participated in roundtable discussions to compile data and community input to examine the priorities of the southland. Dr. Elaine Maimon, President of Governors State University, Congresswoman Robin Kelly and State Representative Will Davis engaged the audience with updates about the educational system and the future of the southland.
On December 12, 2017, President Vernard Alsberry and Carolyn Carter, Director of Community & Business Relations for the Village of Hazel Crest, met with Deans of the schools of Public Administration and Public Policy department at Governors State University to further discuss the questions and answers from the previous Peace With A Purpose Forums.
After exchanging ideas, the energetic group agreed to host a Peace with A Purpose Information Fest on April 21, 2018 at Governors State University. The PWAP Information Fest will offer services and various means of support to assist the citizens of the southland. The fest is expected to host nearly 100 experts and community leaders.
